Course Description:

Managing a non-profit requires good management skills, but, more importantly, management skills tailored to the non-profit environment. While non-profit organizations may have things in common with their commercial-minded cousins, such as the need for economic sustainability, non-profits have unique strengths and challenges.

This course will examine the fundamental principles of non-profit management, explore the roles and responsibilities of a non-profit board of directors and the management teams, discover the essential aspects of resource mobilization, and the budgeting process.

The Strategic Non-profit Management online training programme is particularly well suited for you if you've recently assumed management responsibilities in the non-profit field, but it's suitable for anyone who wants an introductory perspective on some of the unique issues facing management of a non-profit organization. In addition to basic managerial skills, you'll learn about leadership, communication, accounting, organizational change, budgeting, and resource mobilization.

Course Objectives:

  1. To provide participants a thorough grounding in all aspects of non-profit management, including board development, financial management, resource mobilization, marketing, program evaluation and non-profit law.
  2. To give participants the skills and confidence to meet head-on the evolving demands of non-profit administration.
  3. To give participants the skills and confidence to better meet their existing day-to-day challenges.
  4. To provide participants with a deeper and stronger knowledge of non-profit management skills.

Participants will learn how to transform their good intentions into a professional plan of action. They will understand the unique characteristics of non-profit organisations while mastering the core knowledge necessary to become an effective leader in the non-profit arena.

The maximum number of course participants is 40. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Participation from the Institute.
